lark & key southend now open

Our Southend location is now open.  Thanks to all that came out Friday night for our ’soft’ opening.  We weren’t sure everything would be in place but somehow pulled it all together by 6pm.

Southend will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am-6pm.  The phone # is 704-334-4616.  Noda will continue to be open Tuesdays-Saturday from 11am-6pm and Sundays from 12-4.  As we move forward days and hours may shift so we will update them as needed.

We are planning an Opening Celebration in Southend Friday, Dec 4th from 6-9pm (which also happens to be Duy’s birthday).  So mark your calendars!

Lark & Key will be opening it’s second location in the Southend area of Charlotte this November.  The ’soft’ opening will be Friday, Nov 6th from 6-9pm during the Southend Gallery Crawl.  We will update our progress here as we get closer !  Our NoDa location will continue to be open.

Lark & Key welcomes Linda Plaisted, a classically-trained American painter, photographer and mixed media artist who has exhibited her work in galleries and museums throughout North America. She founded Many Muses Studio in 2000 to establish a place to explore the marriage of many media.  As one of the pioneers of contemporary photographic illustration and photomontage, each piece of artwork she creates is layered by hand with images she has captured in her photographs, drawings, paintings and collected ephemera to create collage pieces with incredible depth and detail. 

After focusing on the role of mother for the past five years, Linda is back in her studio working on her photography and creating mixed media pieces by mounting them on board or canvas and incorporating layers of paint, textures, papers and fiber to bring them to full, vibrant life. Look for these original mixed media pieces in our REVISIT exhibition this fall.  

In the meantime you can pick up two 11″x14″ limited edition fine art prints that Linda has created exclusively for Lark & Key.  Image pictured:  Chroma.

Two new artists have just arrived . . .their artwork that is.  After talking to CJ Metzger for some time we are excited to finally have some of her wonderful small mounted prints on hand, with some small originals on the way.  We also have the natural beauty of Hadley Hutton’s original encaustics and prints.

We are excited to add the works of Dolan Geiman to the gallery.  Dolan is a nationally recognized mixed media artist, creating original  paintings, collages, constructions and limited edition reproductions. His artwork has broad appeal, successfully weaving together the rural with the urban and the modern and the vintage.  Reoccurring motifs include rural America, woodland creatures (specifically birds), and country music.

What’s New?

working overtime . . .

Duy has spent the last couple of months preparing for back to back shows in Nashville, TN.  So if you live in the area you will have two opportunities to view some of his newest works.

This weekend he has paintings at the Temple Arts Festival (see ’schedule of events’ – open to the public on Sunday, April 26th).  On Saturday, May 2nd there will be an exhibit opening at Art & Invention Gallery.   The owners of A&I have been quite busy and currently have Duy’s fall show still up on thier website – but it should be updated over the next week, once they get the new work in their hands.  You will find the painting shown here at A&I.
